Getting Started

Picture

1. Real easy, call us (207-215-3335) , or email  me at chris@impactstrengthandfitness.com  or just walk in to observe a workout and ask any questions you may have.  This training is for serious clients only therefore, give it some time to think over what level of dedication you're ready to give before you start.

2. If you like what you see and are ready to begin, schedule a time for our FREE fitness assessment and bodyfat analysis. This session last about an hour and you will be expected to perform a workout. The fitness assessment will cover the basic functional movements of the Impact Cross Training program. The assessment is intended to guide clients through the complex movements of our training (body weight/gymnastic movements, olympic lifts, etc). It is imperative that all movements are done with excellent form which will reduce the risk of injury and will produce better results. Therefore, during the assessment  you will be closely supervised by a trainer who will provide constructive feedback.

3. Once you are done with the fitness assessment you are now ready to:

a) Join Our Group Classes that execute the daily Impact warm up and workout. During group classes we will continue to coach your technique closely and help you scale the workouts as needed.

Our Vision

Impact Strength and Fitness is a genuine "small box private gym" committed to giving you the best workout you can possibly get. Yes, it is hard. A lot harder than hopping on the treadmill and doing a few biceps curls in the air conditioning!  From the minute you walk in and experience what our program is all about you will feel and be a part of something GREAT!

Our vision is simple... To make a community of individuals into a family bound together by a common goal of being in the best possible shape they can be in. I want you to be up for the challenge, no matter what that challenge is!

I am a Certified Personal Trainer, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Sports Nutritionist, competitive strongman,  and owner of Impact Strength and Fitness.  IS&F is a "Hybrid style" personal training studio in Augusta, Maine. I train athletes to get stronger and faster and dedicated men and women to achieve fat loss and REAL health results in my no nonsense “warehouse gym”with less than $2000 worth of equipment.

I've been a "gym rat" my since I was 14 years old and I’ve tried it all. Bodybuilding, powerlifting and now strongman. I've read every book (OK, almost every book) about how to make phyical fitness the norm again.  I learned very quickly that the mentality of the average commercial gym was completely off base and geared towards keeping it's clients and members mediocre. Long story short, my clients were not getting stronger and they were not getting faster and they were not getting leaner… although they could stand on a yoga ball and juggle pink fuzzy dumbbells at the same time! – All in the name of being on the “cutting edge.” (Thank you Elliott Hulse for that phrase).

I worked with my clients in a commercial gym setting for about a year before I realized that it just wasn't working for what they wanted.  I knew there had to be a better way, I just didn't know what it was. I was almost ready to give up. As a last ditch effort to recover my passion, I consulted a friend who was training athletes "completely outside the box" with beer kegs and bags of sand. His clients were in the best shape I've ever seen! I spent the summer working with him and accepted the "underground" or "Hybrid" approach to health and fitness.
I now subscribe to a no nonsense  policy with regards to the health and fitness of my clients and myself: Eat clean, train hard, live well! It's that simple!
